The Association for the promotion of Abitrage in African was created in Geneva (Switzerland) on November 2, 2005 by some African participants in the Symposium on “Multilateral Trade Treaties and Developing Economies”, which was held from October 31 to November 3, 2005.
With its headquarters in Yaoundé (Cameroon), the APAA aims to promote arbitration and mediation/conciliation in Africa by promoting their implementation and culture.
Work in collaboration with other Institutions and Associations dedicated to the promotion of Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods (ADR), to the development of these mechanisms nationally and internationally.
APAA undertakes and publishes studies relating to MARDs in the Revue Camerounaise de l’Arbitrage, the main dissemination tool of the APAA, created in 1999
Contribute to building the capacities of arbitration law professionals, researchers and students who are interested in MARD themes, through the organization of scientific events. Since 2008, we have organized eight (08) conferences on themes relating to MARD

For its administration and operation, the APAA has two (02) main bodies: the General Assembly and the Executive Office.
The General Assembly is the supreme body which defines the main orientations of the Association and adopts the major decisions necessary for its life and effectiveness.
The Executive Office is the management and administrative body of the APAA, which prepares and executes the decisions of the General Assembly.
Regarding its resources, they essentially consist of donations, legacies, subsidies and any other contribution authorized by law.
