The Chairman of the Board of Directors for Kigali International Arbitration Centre (KIAC) would like to invite interested and qualified individuals to apply for admission to KIAC panel of International Arbitrators.
About KIAC Panel of Arbitrators
Kigali International Arbitration Centre (KIAC) is an Independent Body established by an Act of Parliament early in 2011. It was officially launched in May 2012 with a mandate to help economic Operators to resolve their Disputes through arbitration and other Friendly ways of Dispute Resolution instead of litigating in courts.
The Centre has both a Panel of domestic Arbitrators and a panel of international Arbitrators. Current, KIAC panel of International arbitrators has 63 members in compliance with the Requirements under KIAC Arbitration Rules. They were admitted following a call for application made in 2015. The panel, listed on KIAC Website and is used for appointment during arbitration under KIAC Rules and by Courts whenever needed.
This call for application to KIAC Panel of International Arbitrators is an opportunity for those meet all other requirements under the KIAC Rules.
Who can apply?
– Educational degree (s) and /or professional licenses appropriate to the applicant’s field of expertise;
– At least ten (10) years post qualification experience or Senior Level business or professional experience;
– Be Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators or any comparable professional arbitration institute;
– Experience as an arbitrator in five or more cases;
– Membership in a professional association(s);
– Aged between 30 and 75 years

The deadline for application is 10th July 2018 at 4:00pm. All applicants will be informed about the outcome of their applications by email.

Currently, the KIAC panel of Domestic arbitrators has 70 members in compliance with the Requirements under KIAC Arbitration Rules. They were admitted following a call for application made in the previous years. The panel, listed on the KIAC Website, is used for appointment during arbitration under KIAC Rules and by Rwandan Courts when needed.
Since November 2012, KIAC has undertaken a capacity building program leading to various levels of international accreditation in Arbitration. This strengthened KIAC ability to revamp its panel of Arbitrators with new profiles and in so doing, offered more options to users during the time of appointment. This call for application to KIAC Panel of Domestic Arbitrators is an opportunity for those who are accredited at the different levels of Membership at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Applicants should meet all other requirements under the KIAC Rules.
Who can apply?
The KIAC Arbitration Rules 2012 provide for criteria for admission to the Panel of Domestic Arbitrators
– Educational degree (s) and /or professional licenses appropriate to your field of expertise
– At least five (5) years post-qualification experience
– Have undertaken a recognized course of study in the Law and practice of arbitrators and /Or have been at least qualified Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators or any comparable professional arbitration Course Institute.
– Experience as an arbitrator in two or more cases
– Membership in a professional association (s)
– Aged between 30 and 70 years
Admission fee
200$USD payable on reception of an admission letter from the KIAC Secretariat
